I was never overweight and was physically active. But in the last few years because of my job nature, I put on some extra pounds which were really annoying. I was getting very less time for doing exercises. So I decided to try the keto diet. I was thrilled to see initially the numbers were reducing very fast on the weight scale. But now my weight is stuck at 77 kg. Ideally, my weight should be around 60 kg. I’m religiously tracking my food intake so that it should not exceed my calorie limit per day. I’m also walking 4k steps daily. But still, my weight has come to a halt. I’m feeling frustrated also I’m a little bit worried about it. Should I change my meal plan or do more exercise? Can anybody guide me?
Let me help you with an explanation. The keto diet at present is known to be one of the most effective weight loss tools. It restricts our carb intake and puts our body into a natural metabolic state known as ketosis where the body starts burning fat instead of glucose to obtain energy. Though the keto diet is very effective for weight loss, sometimes it may be difficult for weight loss, maybe because of some possible reasons listed below:
Maybe the carb intake is not reduced to the required extent.
Protein is a macronutrient that may keep you full for a longer time. Maybe you are not taking sufficient proteins and feel hungry, so eating more than required.
The keto diet is a highly restricted diet and carb craving is very common and so the carb cheating is.
Though the keto diet is a highly fat-oriented diet and the fat is meant as a filler only. If consumed too high it results in weight gain only not in weight loss.
While feeling hungry and snacking on too much of nuts you may also experience on weight stalling and sometimes weight gain.
Might be you are suffering from thyroid or adrenal dysfunction and you are not aware of it.
If you are having stress your body produces a hormone called cortisol responsible for the accumulation of fat around the belly and also making weight loss a difficult target.
So, be patient and try to figure out the reason why you are not losing weight. Might be you are religiously following the keto diet, give your body some time, your body is trying to get adapt to the new lifestyle and needs some time for it.
