Circadian Misalignment is a common phenomenon that is usually associated with jet lag, or
rather, a situation where your biological clock gets disrupted quite often. This, of course, has a
direct effect on hormones and your appetite gets affected as a result. You can find this condition
happening to you, if you work a lot of late nights or go through severe jet lags.
The glucocorticoid hormones in the adrenal gland regulate the physiological activities of the
body that consist of metabolism and appetite. So when their levels fall out of sync, the
neuropeptides become absolutely disoriented, and these directly control your appetite. So for
people who work night shifts, their body clock is completely reversed, and they find themselves
facing very stressed and undergoing appetite and sleep disruption.
