I am a very social kind of person with a huge list of friends. Also, I use to visit regularly to bars and pubs. I heard a lot about the keto diet, and it seems fascinating to me. Though I’m medically fit, I was a little overweight, so I thought to try a hand at it. Besides, unlike other diets, alcohol wasn’t completely forbidden while you are on the keto diet. But to my dismay, just only after one glass of beer or wine, did I start to feel pretty drunk. Also, I feel a hangover, the very next day. My friends use to drink a lot more than me, but still, they don’t feel any side effects. Is there anything related to the keto diet? Do I have a low tolerance for alcohol? Though, liquor is not completely forbidden while on the keto diet. An occasional glass of wine, champagne, or some distilled liquor is fine. But it has some side effects too. Eating a heavy-carb meal may prevent you from getting drunk easily. But when you are on a carb-restricted diet like on a keto diet after consuming alcohol you may suffer worse hangovers because alcohol hits your system faster as compared to when having a carb-rich diet. On the keto diet alcohol tolerance plummets to zero so make you feel tipsy sooner.
To prevent the side effects Keep your body well hydrated. Drink enough water in between the drinks. To prevent hangovers spend a long time finishing your drink.
