Two is always Better than One, Right?

Keto is the current rage in the dieting world, and so is Intermittent fasting. Influencers are doing these, celebrities are doing these. Naturally, you wonder if these are backed by sufficient testimonials or at least nutritionist certified.

So let me explain.

Keto is the consumption of high fats and low carbs to change the way your body metabolism works and switch to burning fats instead of glucose for producing energy. On the other hand, intermittent fasting is an eating cycle where you consume food normally and then go through calorie restriction or starving for the rest of the hours, periodically.

SO what happens when you combine the two?

First, your body reaches ketosis faster. When you fast, the glycogen levels decrease, and your body switches to fats for energy, which is the exact way the keto diet works for you. It will also burn the stubborn fats in your body much better than doing the diet alone because it promotes thermogenesis. It can also reduce your hunger pangs and preserve muscle mass, as shown in studies conducted on people.

So all in all, definitely the boons will  be doubled if you combine the two. Just keep in mind, this is not for people with eating disorders or those who are breastfeeding or are pregnant. Ask your doctor for a green flag to do thi before you get started, especially if you have had a history of some medical ailments. Other than that, you are good to go!
